At my house I kind of have a routine, I wake up get breakfast, get ready, and then spend the morning cleaning the house. Then it is lunch time, followed by nap time. After that its time to start dinner. I try to take time out to spend just playing with the kids too, but sometimes I find myself getting to busy cleaning or involved in something else, and I find myself telling the kids "not now I'm busy" way to much. Sometimes I have to remind myself that the kids needs, even if it's just playing a game are more important than any cleaning or other project I might have going on at the time. So I have made a goal to take at least 45 min. after lunch to spend time focused just on the kids, it might be doing a craft, or playing a game, or something like that, I don't want this to be the only time of the day I do stuff with them, but I think it will be good to help me make sure I'm am spending time specifically focused on them. This time we made fruit loop necklaces, the kids really had a lot of fun with it, and it was something Koda could do easily too. I hope I can keep this goal going. I especially think it will be really good, after the baby comes, and is getting a lot of attention, hopefully it will help them to not feel left out.

Brielle loves to do stuff like this. She couldn't wait to show Mike when he got home.

Koda did a really good job, of course he liked that you could eat the fruit loops too.

I feel exactly the same way. I made a similar goal awhile ago and have gotten so busy that I haven't been doing it. You are motivating me to be better!
I, too, feel the same way. I keep making similar goals from time to time and then life turns things upside-down. I especially thought about this today during conference and being reminded about keeping an eternal perspective...time with the kids is what really matters, there will always be more to do around the house! I will do better! Thank you for your thoughts Sarah!
PS Great idea for a quiet conference activity for my kids! Thanks!
Good idea. It's so hard sometimes to do the stuff we should be in staed of cleaning and just being to busy. I'll have to try it cause i know it'll be so good for the kids. Thanks for the idea!
Sarah, you are such a great mom! What a fun activity!
